Large group music/devotional time, dinner together, and project time. All students in 7-12th grade are invited to attend and bring their friends! Pastor Kelsey will send out a weekly RSVP so we know who is coming and how much food we will need so keep an eye out for that in the weekly youth ministry email. As we mark nearly a year of "pandemic times" and public schools in our community return to in-person learning opportunities, let us hold in our prayers teachers, school staff members and students.

This brief service will offer the chance for us to pray with and for the teachers, school staff and students in our community. We will also offer them a blessing as they enter into this next phase of learning. Teachers, school staff and students are invited to bring a mask or other supplies to be blessed. Anyone who would like can bring a lawn chairs to sit in during the service or plan to stand.

This outdoor service will take place in the parking lot. All participants are asked to wear a mask, practice social distancing and stay home if you are sick or have possible COVID-19 exposure. Cars can park in the back half of the parking lot. We will gather - distanced - in the front half of the lot. Please leave adequate space, usually a parking spot in length, between households.

We ARE CROP WALKING! If only for a short distance… Abiding Presence will have a socially distanced, masked, parking-lot CROP Walk on Saturday, November 7, so as not break our congregation’s 27 year tradition of supporting Church World Service (CWS). Participants may start their walk any time between 1:30 pm and 2:45 pm. We will have booths and stations to learn about CROP and CWS, and even make a “Share the Peace” video for the Abiding Presence Livestream service. We will also have live music by Joe McGavin!

Those who wish to support our team with a donation, go to www.crophungerwalk.org/burkeva and choose “Donate.”

Those who prefer not to donate online may send a check made out to CWS/CROP to Abiding Presence. Donations support the global and local efforts to combat hunger, provide clean water sources, improve agriculture, support literacy and more. CWS shares a part of its proceeds from our walk with ECHO each year.

We’re launching our Small Arts Groups for students in 4th-12th grade! Sunday, October 18 at 2:15 p.m. we have a very special visual art afternoon. Ed Siomacco Jr. joins us via Zoom to talk about his work as a visual effects artist, illustrator, cartoonist, and filmmaker. Ed is currently a Creature Technical Director at Industrial Light and Magic and has worked on films including Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Aquaman, The Angry Birds Movie, both Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs films, Hotel Transylvania, I Am Legend, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe among others. Check out some of his recent work here! Afterward, artists from our congregation (including Diane Frykman) guide students in interactive drawing activities. All supplies are provided and students get to keep their drawing pads to continue their creativity at home! Signup is required and slots are limited.
