Small Arts Groups — Visual Art with Special Guests!

We’re launching our Small Arts Groups for students in 4th-12th grade!

Sunday, October 18 at 2:15 p.m. we have a very special visual art afternoon lead by artists associated with our congregation! Schedule:

  • 2:15 p.m.: Ed Siomacco Jr. joins us via Zoom to talk about his work as a visual effects artist, illustrator, cartoonist, and filmmaker. Ed is currently a Creature Technical Director at Industrial Light and Magic and has worked on films including Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Aquaman, The Angry Birds Movie, both Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs films, Hotel Transylvania, I Am Legend, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe among others. Check out some of his recent work here!

  • 3:15 p.m.: Five minute break

  • 3:20 p.m.: Artists from our congregation (Diane Frykman & Breanna Gromicko) guide students in interactive drawing activities. All supplies are provided and students get to keep their drawing pads to continue their creativity at home!

  • 4:30 p.m.: cleanup and pickup

We will run two concurrent groups: one for upper elementary school, and one for middle/high school. We will meet outdoors in the parking lot at Abiding Presence.

Signup is required so that we can have supplies ready to go! If students want to just attend the session with Ed Siomacco, they may sign up to do so over Zoom.

All of our Small Arts Groups follow the same rules as our other in-person outdoor activities this fall:

  • Physical distancing (6 feet or more of distance) at all times

  • All wear masks at all times

  • No sharing of musical instruments, art supplies or other equipment (unless sanitized first)
