Meet Our Pastors
Rev. Meredith Lovell Keseley, Senior Pastor
I have the wonderful opportunity of serving as the Senior Pastor of Abiding Presence. I first felt called to be a pastor while in middle school, so I am lucky enough to have my dream job. I consider it a great privilege to be able to walk with people throughout their lives as they grow in faith and in their relationship with God. I especially enjoy preaching, teaching and counseling. Abiding Presence is an energetic congregation where no day is ever the same as the previous day, which keeps me learning and doing new things.
I grew up in the D.C. suburbs on the Maryland side, so Northern Virginia is not too far from home. I have degrees from Susquehanna University and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. Before coming to Abiding Presence in February of 2010, I served as the Associate Pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C.
Probably the only thing I love more than being a pastor is being a mom. My husband, Ben, and I have two young children who are the light of our lives. I am grateful that my girls get to grow up being part of such a supportive faith family. My girls love playing on the church playground, Sunday School, youth group and children's choir. As a family, we enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants and all things D.C. Ben and I are novice wine collectors who like to explore Virginia's wine country.
I look forward to getting to know you whether you are new to the area in search of a church home or haven't ever really been to church and are just searching. If there are ways that I can help support you or if you have questions about God, faith or this congregation, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
Rev. Heidi Eickstadt, Pastor for Discipleship
I am excited to serve at Abiding Presence as the Pastor for Discipleship. I felt God was calling me to be a pastor since the age of 10 but I wrestled with my call and with my faith for a long time. Looking back, I see God at work during that time, accompanying and guiding me through conversations, relationships and life experiences to a new understanding of God, my faith and myself. I am so grateful that God never stopped wanting to be in relationship with me and kept meeting me wherever I was in my journey. And I rejoice that my journey has brought me to Abiding Presence to serve as one of your pastors!
I am originally from Iowa and am the oldest of four. I received my B.A. in Political Science from Luther College in 2003. Shortly thereafter, I met my husband Ike while he was in the Air Force and stationed in Dover, Delaware. We were married in October 2004. After his enlistment was up, Ike and I moved to Virginia in 2007 and I graduated from George Mason University with my M.A. in Political Science in 2010. After working as a federal contractor for a few years, I embraced God’s call to ordained ministry and so I returned to seminary and graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in May 2017. Ike is a federal contractor and is also studying for his B.A. in Communications at George Mason University. We enjoy sharing time together and with our dog and three cats.
I am grateful for the chance to serve God through our ministry here at Abiding Presence. We are all called to be Jesus' disciples who live out God's love as a community of faith and in our daily lives out in the world. We are freed and forgiven in Christ, to love and serve God and each other. I am excited and passionate about equipping our congregation to be God's hands and feet in the world, participating in God's ways of love and relationship in our actions and being. I can't wait to see how the Spirit will continue moving in our work together. I welcome you to contact me with ideas, concerns, questions or thoughts! Go Go Holy Spirit!
