Food Ministry Update

On January 23, The Abiding Presence curbside pantry served 164 families. This represents not only a record high number but also a 20% increase over our previous high. It is an understatement to say that the need for food in our community is great. In fact, Burke was recently designated as a "red zone" by the Capital Area Food Bank, which means that it is an area with high food insecurity and low percentage of meals per person in need. After this pantry, we're out of everything. Can you help us restock?

Check out the permanent list of donated items at https://abidingpresence.net/food to see what we distribute. At this point, non-perishable food donations are key to helping us restock as we cannot get shipments in at the rate we are handing food out. Donations can be placed in the donation shed located outside to the left of the main entrance on the concrete pad.

If you cannot get out to shop, please consider offering financial support at https://abidingpresence.net/giveonline. Financial support is used to fund the bulk purchases we make from partners such as the Capital Area Food Bank, Giant, Wegmans and the Dollar Store.

Our food ministry has always taken the support of the whole community. This is the case now more than ever! Abiding Together, we will continue the ministry of feeding people.
