Abiding in Burke Service Ministry Focus
Each and every one of us has a part to play in our congregation’s service ministry, so during Lent, we will highlight a different local service ministry each week. Bring in the assigned item for that week’s ministry and together, we can make a big difference in the lives of others! Representatives from that week’s ministry will visit the Abiding Table for a 10-minute talk to familiarize everyone with what they do, how they are connected to Abiding Presence, and how you can get involved! Learn more here.
Lenten Adult Small Groups
Small Groups will meet for five weeks during Lent to explore what Jesus’ seven last words on the cross mean for us. Small groups are hosted by members of Abiding Presence at their homes or at the church. They start the week of March 10 and run through the week of April 7. A short book will guide our discussions but there is also a DVD we’ll be watching in the small groups so even if you don’t have time to do the reading, you will still be able to participate! Sign up to participate in a small group.
Midweek Lenten Worship Services
Wednesdays from 7:00-7:45 p.m.
March 13 through April 10
Each Wednesday during Lent we will gather for an evening prayer service with Holy Communion. We will hear from a different member of the congregation each week who will offer a reflection of how they have experienced God working in their life. There will be prayers, scripture and hymns as well. Childcare is provided in our professionally staffed nursery and dinner is served prior to the service from 6:00-6:45 p.m.
Journey to Easter
Sunday, April 7 from 3:30-5:00 p.m.
"Journey to Easter" is an event for ages preschool through 6th grade. Participants grouped together with like-ages will walk through the events leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection through crafts, snacks, and games. There will be a preschool group, kindergarten group, 1st-3rd grade group, and 4th-6th grade group all running independently, but at the same time. A parent must accompany preschoolers and kindergartners. Contact Sara Dyson, Children and Family Minister, for more information or to sign up to participate.
