February is ECHO Food Drive Month

During February, Abiding Presence will be collecting food and personal care items to support the food pantry at ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others).  In calendar year 2018, ECHO distributed over 200,000 lbs. (100 tons!) of food to over 1,400 families in the Springfield / Burke communities. This is a tremendous volume of food that needs to be constantly replaced through the efforts of supporting churches, social organizations, and local businesses.

Although all non-perishable items are welcomed, the following items are urgently required: flour (2#bags), band aids, dry beans (bag), deodorant, rice (2# bags), detergent, canned meat, canned pasta, adult/child pain medications, juice (large bottles/cans), shaving cream, vegetable oil, razors, jello / pudding mixes, spaghetti sauce, and brown grocery bags.. Also, all non-perishable foods are acceptable as long as it is unopened and not past the “best by” date.

Please help us support ECHO. We are trying to collect 2,000 pounds (1 ton) of food during the month.  Last year we collected 1,700 lbs. of food, so 2,000 lbs. is not an unrealistic target --- we as a church can meet this goal. Please place your food and personal care donations in the ECHO boxes located near the front entrance of the church. Weekly deliveries will be made to ECHO.
