The Power of Testimony
One of my favorite Lenten traditions at Abiding Presence is that members of the congregation offer the reflections at our midweek services. It is a privilege to work with people as they think about what they are going to say. Hearing their powerful testimonies always enlivens my faith in unexpected ways. The reflections I hear from you are some of the most powerful sermons I hear all year long.
Leading Bible Study this past week at Sunrise at Silas Burke, one of our newest ministry sites, my "regular participant" (yes, so far I only have one) shared a story of a time she had the opportunity to witness to her faith in God. "You never know when you're going to have the opportunity to share your story," she told me. She's right! You never know when you'll have an opening to tell someone about Jesus, offer to keep them in your prayers or remind someone that they are loved by God.
As you go about your week, I encourage you to keep your eyes, ears and heart open for moments that you might be able to share part of your testimony with someone. I also hope you will plan to join us for worship Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Let the powerful testimony of one of our church members encourage you in your faith journey as we make our way to the cross this Lenten season.
