This year, CROP Walk reaches the ripe “middle age” of 50! And, Abiding Presence will field a CROP Walk Team for the 27th year. The motto and mission of CROP Walk is to make “a world where no one must go hungry.”
Adapting to its 27 year tradition, the Burke-Fairfax CROP Hunger Walk will NOT be held on its usual Sunday prior to Thanksgiving, but instead two Sundays before, on November 17, 2019. Organizers hope to catch slightly warmer weather, and to make it possible for those who often travel the week of Thanksgiving to join this year.
CROP supports Church of World Service, whose work and numerous projects around the globe are described at www.cwsglobal.org. CROP also supports local hunger-fighting organizations by sending 25% of its proceeds back to the communities where the money was raised. This has resulted in thousands of dollars to ECHO over the years and constitutes a vital source of funding for its mission.
Watch for information about CROP fundraisers where local restaurants pledge part of their proceeds on certain days. Plan to join us as a donor or a walker on November 17. More information will be available from Jane Curtis.
