NEW! Music & Arts Ministry for 4th-12th Graders

Heading into the fall, we recognize that many of the arts activities that are usually part of school will either look very different or simply not occur this fall. As a church, we believe that we are in a position to help fill the gaps for our students and families. So, this fall we are launching a new music and arts ministry for 4th-12th graders.

The idea is to create physically-distanced ensembles/small-groups outdoors at the Abiding Presence church property, with precautions similar to this summer's youth group activities. We may also offer some group/ensemble activities online, but we are aware that many of our students will be experiencing "Zoom fatigue" after spending so much of their school days on video conferences, so our main focus is on in-person, physically-distanced activities.

We are inviting families of 4th-12th graders to tap the link below and fill out a brief, one-page survey to help us gauge interest in each type of group activity:

AP Music & Arts Interest Form for 4th-12th Graders (Fall 2020) [https://forms.gle/vpCBEZECVBba4EkW6]

The survey is open now through August 23. You are not committing to any activity by filling out the survey, so go ahead and fill it out even if you're not sure.

Later this month, each student who expressed interest via the survey will receive an invitation to join a group of students with similar interests and in a like age range working with an adult leader from the church on a project with a specific goal. Part of what makes the arts so special at Abiding Presence is our tradition of intergenerational collaboration, so we'll make this type of collaboration a cornerstone of our fall arts activities. Each group will have a mission and a purpose they can pursue together, and their work will contribute in tangible ways to the life of our community!

If you are an adult who would be excited about helping to mentor a small group, please contact David Chavez, Music & Worship Minister.
