Advocacy towards a Trauma-Informed FCPS

Almost 500 people registered for The Kids We Lose documentary screening on December 7th, and almost 300 people attended. The following info includes some helpful next steps shared by Jenna White, a coordinator of the Trauma Informed Network.

Update on the FCPS Restraint and Seclusion Policy

The Fairfax County Council PTA (FCCPTA), representing over 160+ school PTAs and the Fairfax Special Education PTA (SEPTA) have joined together to address the use of restraint and seclusion in FCPS.

How to Help:

1. Contact the at-large and your district school board member, as well as Superintendent Dr Scott Brabrand at ssbrabrand@fcps.edu. Do so before the school board meeting on Dec 17th.

2. Sign up to give three minute testimony at the R&S Hearing this Friday, Dec 11th at 6pm. To sign up to testify, click here.

3. Your organization can sign on in support of the position statement. To do so, please send an email with your organization's name, who authorized the endorsement (ie, Board of Directors, Executive Director, etc) and contact information to advocacy@fairfaxcountysepta.org and copy me at ticn@fccpta.org.
