High-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting
Stephen Ministry is a ministry that demonstrates Christ's love to those struggling through life transitions, difficult situations, and grief. Stephen Ministers undergo 50+ hours of training to prepare for confidential, same-sex relationships with care receivers. Relationships are engaged through weekly hour-long one-on-one meetings between caregiver and care receiver.
Caregivers provide a non-anxious listening presence within the safe house of a non-judgmental relationship. The relationship between caregiver and care receiver is therapeutic because God works to heal through the active process of listening, then offering affirmation, hope, and the wonder of God's presence. Caregivers are patient and do not push care receivers towards solutions, but rather are regularly there for care receivers so that they are able to come to their own solutions through strengthened reliance on God. Caregivers' commitments to the care receivers make them feel valued through the grace-based acceptance that we all deserve.
Stephen Ministers are compassionate, full of faith, skilled, and trustworthy, by keeping Christ as the Provider. Relationships are kept healthy for both ends through monthly peer supervision meetings between caregivers, where caregivers seek God together to keep control of themselves and to fulfill caring ministry commitments.
If you could use a little confidential help right now, your church family stands ready and willing to lend a hand.
